July 1, 2018

Sometimes it feels as if things have slowed down, and not much progress is being made.  But looking back over all these previous blog entries, I can see just how far we have come, from bare dirt to a roof ready to get water-proofed!  There is so much work ahead, it seems an impossible journey, but now we are almost at the half-way point.  We have lined up the major subcontractors (HVAC, plumbing and electrical) to start their rough-in work in the next couple of weeks.  We have our stucco, insulation and drywall installers under contract and ready to go when their turn comes.  Even after all of these jobs are completed, there will be months of finish work to go, but along the way we can continue to look back and see how much has been accomplished.  It’s daunting, exhausting, stressful and even annoying to be undertaking this project, I mean, what did we do with all of our free time, before October 9, 2017?  There are a million decisions to be made at every turn – every single ingredient used to build a house comes with many options, and every decision you make will be second-guessed by others, including yourself.  We are looking forward to the day when the house is done, we’re home again, and our only decision is what to have for dinner!

  1. Yes, everyone has an opinion. When it comes to building, I am blessed to have the excellent, local expertise of our contractor and designer, who have both done this for years!
